Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard surfaces

A revitalized Medvedev claimed his initial trophy for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a difficult year, winning just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serving in especial - resulted in him dropping out of the world's top 10 and ultimately separating with former trainer Cervara.

Currently working with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily improved in the last few weeks - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over opponent Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's initial trophy following the Italian tournament and initial on a hard surface after that period of 2023.

Victory also signifies Medvedev has achieved 21 championships at twenty-one various events.

"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my children simultaneously, so to get a title is really nice," stated tennis professional the champion.

"This victory is in dedication of my child my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his last six championship matches, featuring in Halle previously this season.

His counter-punching approach and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had caused commentators to doubt if his ability to play at the highest level was over.

But the player has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and compete positively, reinforced by an better service.

He fought back from a break down in the first set against the challenging opponent, winning four of the concluding five points to go ahead.

The pair traded breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his initial tour title, seized the initiative to force a final set.

He defended four initial break points in a competitive third set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to serve for the match.

Suitably, he earned the title with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman failing to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
